With many notable attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the lovely market town of Bakewell only a short drive away, landmarks like the dramatic ?gritstone edges? at Froggatt, Curbar and Stanage the Blue John caverns at Castleton and the twin dams on the Derwent/Ladybower Reservoirs - famously used during training for the WW2 Dambusters Raids - are also within easy reach. The Maynard has long been a popular base for walkers, ramblers and climbers, with a wide choice of walks, routes and climbs of varying distances and degrees of difficulty, all within easy reach of the hotel. We also operate a walkers? drop-off and collect ?rescue? service, please call for details. Chatsworth house - ?the Palace of the Peaks? is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and is widely regarded as one of Britain?s best loved historic houses and estates. Together with the nearby Haddon Hall, Chatsworth was used as a location in the new film adaptation of Jane Austen?s ?Pride and Prejudice?.
